It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
